The Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars fired up for the ‘salute to the crowd’ at Meremere Dragway but once the heavens opened, they simply wouldn’t stop, drawing an early close to the race meeting.

Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars Manager, Morice McMillin explained. “We really persisted in an effort to try and get the nitro funny cars to put on a show for the crowd.”

“The rain just persisted, so eventually, we had to make the call to pack it up and try again next weekend.

“We have agreed with the Meremere Dragway management that we will come back and try again on Saturday February 10.

“The effort to get to New Zealand has been substantial and the build-up to this event was probably one of the best we have been involved in, so we want to deliver back to the fans,” McMillin concluded.

“We are sorry the rain stopped us today but we hope to have nitro flames in the sunshine on the 10th!”
