The Cruzin’ Magazine Nostalgia Drags at Sydney Dragway presented sunny skies and a sticky racetrack and the Aeroflow Nitro Hot Rods took advantage of the conditions by running Australia’s first 5-second pass for a Nostalgia Fuel Altered.

The black Berzerk beast piloted by Sydney’s own Rick Gauci managed a pair of ‘fives’ with his maiden run netting a 5.941-second pass at a huge 384.46km/h.

Gauci backed that up with a stout 5.982-second pass at 380.55km/h.

Straight after the run Gauci explained “It felt really fast, I had to do a lot of driving on the first pass as it was trying to move around a lot.”

“We were so close to that 5-second pass at Willowbank Raceway, we didn’t want to change to much for the Sydney event. The only major difference was the car was faster in the first half of the track.

“We are super excited, I have to thank the entire Aeroflow crew,” smiled Gauci.

In the other lane, it was Shane Olive aboard behind the wheel of the Psycho, one of the most popular cars at the event.

Shane had to get off the throttle on the first pass as the car got to close to the centre line, with his 6.87-second pass coming at only 231 km/h as he coasted over the finishing stripe.

The crew calmed it down a little for the final pass of the day but it was not enough with a 8.29-second pass the result as the little beast lifted its front wheel a foot off the ground 300 feet into the run as the car began heading towards the wall.

Olive explained, “It wasn’t the result we were looking for Psycho, the car is really strong early in the run in fact it was faster in the first half of the track than our 6.01 second pass a few weeks ago.
